On first impressions this game has not aged well. The intro does not do a good job of selling the gameplay and makes it look boring & uninteresting. When you first start you are greeted with a fetch quest to check out a distress beacon. once there this opens up your first combat test.

The combat is basic hack & slash gameplay. Block, Parry, Attack, repeat. The thing that is missing is a decent lock on which I feel will be essential on the later boss fights.

Honestly, I am just under an hour into this game and currently stuck already because other than a compass telling you what direction to go, you get bugger all else to work with. I currently need to get through a locked gate but good luck with that as there are no NPC's to chat to or quest logs to help either.

Also, there are no death animations so when you run out of health, the continue screen just pops up immediately. you can be midway through a combo then BLAM, game over in your face! it's weird, even just a basic animation of me falling over would do, at least i'd feel like i'd been beaten rather than nothing.
