Assassins Creed: Syndicate
2015 - Ubisoft - Ubisoft Quebec
Syndicate is the 9th major instalment in the Assassin's Creed Franchise. This is the first one to be set in the UK, and their recreation of Victorian London is excellent.
This is also the last game to use the Traditional AC control & combat styles, with the later ones opting for a more souls-like approach.
In Syndicate you play as Twins 'Jacob & Evie' Frye, as you try to liberate London from Templar control. The clever thing is how each character has a different approach to missions, Jacob is more hot-headed & spontaneous, with Evie taking the quieter, stealthy approach.
The game is a standard Ubisoft affair. The Main map is huge, with bucket-loads of locations, side missions & collectables to pad out the game experience.
It may sound biased, but this might actually be one of my favourite games in the series, up there with IV, but any game set in the UK will always score highly with me anyway.
Syndicate doesn't really bring anything new to the table, at times it really just feels like a re-skin of Unity, yet sometimes that isn't a bad thing. Considering the direction the series has gone now, I kinda miss when they were like this.
